 Preparatory Kindergarten


For School year 2017-2018, CCCS will be offering a half-day Preparatory Kindergarten class.  Class hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.   Like our Kindergarten class, our preparatory Kindergarten will reinforce academic, spiritual and social development laying a foundation in phonics, reading, math, bible, art, music and technology. The classroom maximum is a capacity of 15.  This program will provide each student with quality instruction, small-class size for individual instruction and a safe, nurturing environment. 

A child enrolling in our Preparatory Kindergarten class must be developmentally at the 4 year level by September 1st and potty trained.  Please fill out the Prep-K readiness form and submit along with our online application.

Classifying and sorting, ordinal and positional words, naming attributes, sorting by color, size and kind, alike and different, patterns, copying,

Technology
Students learn to use the computer keyboard and utilize various programs to enhance their academic and problem solving skills. They are also taught how to use the internet effectively and safely.

Phonics and reading, multi-sensory activities and games, recognition of name, sound, and pictures of long and short vowels and consonants, sounding of blends, on and toe vowel words, and words with special sounds, beginning phonics rules and special sounds, reading sentences and stories using tools to decode and encode short-vowel words, words with consonant blends or digraphs and words using several long-vowels
rules, learning and reciting poetry....and more.

Music

Students rote learn (discrimination learning) to perform all music concepts (elements) individually (rhythm, melody, tempo, dynamics, timbre, articulation, form, etc.) through continuous active participation (listening, singing, chanting, moving, playing performing, creating, improvising, reading, notating, describing, and evaluating.

Students are taught that they are special and unique creations of God and that, as believers, our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit. Students learn how to make healthy and Godly choices in areas such as oral hygiene, food, germ prevention, safety and drug prevention awareness.
